This is the process of a company expanding its media production in the same area of media. For example, one newspaper company buying another newspaper company. This can happen by internal expansion, merger or takeover and can lead to a monopoly.	Synergy
This is where two or more companies, usually of similar size, combine to form a larger single company.	Merger

Single Camera Formats

Series: The Individual episodes of a series have self contained narratives meaning they have a defined ending. Many crime dramas are series. An example of this is Peaky Blinders.

Serial: The narrative of a serial runs over numerous episodes, with each episode usually finishing on a cliff-hanger making you want to see more. Soap operas are serials as are many of the recent hit US dramas. An example of this is Eastenders.

Single Drama: A one-off television drama which has its own self contained narrative. Made for TV films might be considered single dramas. An example of this is Don't Take my Baby.

Understanding 'single camera production'

a) Define 'single camera production':

A piece of media such as a music video or short film, shot by one camera. Most of the time they are quite low budget.


b) Identify the advantages and disadvantages of single camera production (refer to examples where you can):

Advantages They don’t cost large amounts of money They are easier to compose, once your done filming Less editing work will have to be done, since your unable to You don’t have to rent out or buy other expensive cameras

Disadvantage You are unable to use realistic special effects Your available camera may have bad quality The location of the film may not change at all The whole production will take a lot longer to film, which is why this technique is mainly used for short films

c) What is multi camera production:

Multi camera production uses more than one camera, but follows the same retrospect as single camera production.

d) How does multi-camera differ to single camera productions:

Multi camera allows for more cleaner and fluid shots, along with transitioning, because you use more than one camera. It’s also quicker to film and you can cover a larger amount of area due to more FOV.

Genre is the way different pieces of literature such as art, music and film, are ordered and categorised to appeal to their fan bases. This is important for audiences so they can self-order their taste on what they like the most, and they know what to look for when for example shopping.
